Canton Fair, full name of China Import and Export Fair (The China Import and Export Fair), also known as the Canton Fair, was founded in the spring of 1957, held in Guangzhou in spring and fall every year, is China’s longest history, the highest level, the largest scale, the most complete range of commodities, the largest number of merchants and the best effect of the transaction of the comprehensive international trade event. It is the most comprehensive international trade event with the longest history, the largest scale, the widest variety of commodities, the largest number of visitors and the best transaction results.
Co-sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and the People’s Government of Guangdong Province and hosted by the China Foreign Trade Center, the Canton Fair is the window and symbol of China’s opening up to the outside world, and is regarded as “China’s No. 1 Exhibition”. Canton Fair is not only the barometer and wind vane of China’s foreign trade, but also an important platform for international trade cooperation. Since its inception, the Canton Fair has gone through wind and rain without interruption, and has been successfully held for many times, establishing trade relations with 229 countries and regions around the world, with a cumulative export turnover of about 1.5 trillion U.S. dollars, and a cumulative total of more than 10 million overseas buyers attending the fair and viewing the exhibition online, which has vigorously promoted trade exchanges and friendly exchanges between China and other countries and regions around the world.
The Canton Fair has a flexible and diversified design of exhibition areas, and in addition to the traditional sample transaction, it also organizes online trade fairs, with a variety of trade methods. The Canton Fair Complex is located in Pazhou Island, Guangzhou, with a total construction area of 1.1 million square meters, a total indoor exhibition hall area of 338,000 square meters and an outdoor exhibition area of 43,600 square meters.
The 136th Canton Fair will open on October 15, with a total exhibition area of 1.55 million square meters. This year’s Canton Fair will provide a one-stop trade platform for global buyers with a complete range of products, good quality and good price, convenience and efficiency, and credibility protection12.
This year’s Canton Fair will be divided into three phases, and the specific distribution of the exhibition period is as follows:
Phase I: October 15 to 19, with exhibits including household appliances, consumer electronics, computers and accessories.
Phase II: October 23 to 27, mainly displaying construction and decoration materials, hardware tools, machinery and equipment, etc.
Phase III: October 31 to November 4, showcasing consumer goods, textiles and garments, shoes, office supplies, etc.3
This year’s Canton Fair welcomed a batch of inbound exhibits, including gas stoves, washing machines, ovens and other household appliances from Egypt. After arriving in Guangzhou, these exhibits were declared to the Customs and Excise Department using the integrated customs clearance model, and entered the country smoothly, making a good start for this year’s Canton Fair to officially enter the exhibition stage4.
In addition, this year’s Canton Fair has also attracted many exhibitors, including a total of 45 enterprises in Sanshui District, with a total of 100 booths. These enterprises will display a variety of high-quality products and seek cooperation opportunities with global buyers5.
